To give you some background, my wife decided after 11 years that she doesn't want to be with me; that was 3 months ago. Anyway, this hasn't been a good year with COVID, work, separation, and other family drama. Sometimes it bleeds over into my dreams. This is one of those times. Buckle up for another weird one folks.
I had a dream that I ran into my (now) wife at a resort. She kept standing behind things and she wouldn't make eye contact with me. Eventually is saw what she was hiding - she was pregnant. 5 months pregnant in fact. I asked her how that was possible. Don't worry, my dream was set in the near future so the math checks out. That and I don't math too good in my dreams.
The conversation intensified.
"Who's the father? Because I know it isn't me?"
She looked away, sorta ashamed. "You know him."
"Sure." I had some idea. "How long have you known? And when? When I was at work?"
"Yeah...."
"Figures as much. Why didn't you just tell me!? And how could you do that!?"
She never answered. I was seething with anger, not at her but at the fact that she was doing this alone. She'd become what I didn't want, a statistic. I went outside for some fresh air and saw a bus pull up. In bright, yellow neon letters its sign read Sidney, Australia. So I figured out where we were. Finally. Didn't help with the pregnant, soon-to-be ex-wife.
This is where the lucid dream got weird. I climbed up the resort castle
and there was sand on top. I looked down where the bus was and as it pulled off, a stream flowed against it and rushed the resort outside stairs. It flowed up the stairs up to where I stood and starting washing out the sand. I yelled for help as I held on for dear life. It was me against a barrage of waves and a 30 foot drop.
The water subsided and I took the stairs down, following the path the water created on its way up.
I found a wedding procession downstairs where my wife was. The bride walked through wearing only a lace dress. No one seemed to notice. I watched as they walked into the nearby venue. That is where the dream ended.
Was that a weird lucid dream? Maybe. I think dreams reveal things about ourselves and our perception of others that shouldn't be overlooked. There, I've said my piece for the day.
